Announcement re: Boston Bar Foundation
I’m glad to announce that I’ve joined the Boston Bar Foundation, as a member of the Society of Fellows. The Boston Bar Foundation performs valuable work in and around Boston, and I’m happy to be able to support these projects. I’ve joined recently, as announced by the Boston Bar Association. Please read on to learn more about what the Boston Bar Foundation does.
The mission of the Boston Bar Foundation
The Boston Bar Foundation works to increase access to justice for the people in the Greater Boston who cannot afford legal services. The Boston Bar Foundation also funds public service projects taken on by the Boston Bar Association, and the Boston Bar Foundation provides educational opportunities and organizes summer jobs, at local law firms and other employers, for teenagers from Boston. Please read more about the work of the BBF. And for more info on the importance of summer jobs, take a look at this recent BBA blog post on summer jobs, and at President Barack Obama’s recent post on LinkedIn on the subject! (For the record, my first summer job was in an oncology lab at Boston University Medical Center, though I’d had other jobs before that, such as the snow-shoveling company I ran with a friend throughout high school.)
The Society of Fellows
The Society of Fellows is a group of attorneys dedicated to expanding access to justice and improving the Greater Boston community. As a Junior Fellow, I’m privileged to be part of an organization dedicated to improving the civic life of Boston, the education of local students, and funding legal services for all members of our community. In addition to the work I do pro bono, such as helping military veterans, and assisting a local artists’ collective, I am honored to be part of the Boston Bar Foundation, and be able to support its mission.
Fun Fundraising
The BBF runs a number of fundraisers throughout the year. The next one is the Casino Night for Summer Jobs, on March 31, 2016, at 6pm. It will be held at the Boston Bar Association, in downtown Boston: 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA 02108. Please join me in supporting the work of the BBA and BBF. I hope to see you there!
